I'm an SEO, AEO and GEO consultant and the founder of BT Strategies, with nearly a decade in search and 600+ clients ranked across Australia, the UK, the US, Europe and South Africa. My background started in geography, not marketing. After a BA and Honours in Geographic Information Systems at Stellenbosch University, I founded GeoFusion Mapping and spent seven years building spatial data solutions for clients like Toyota South Africa, the V&A Waterfront, UCT and Wilderness Safaris. That's where I learned to think in systems, data and structure, which turned out to be exactly what search rewards. Since 2017, I've worked at Authority Builders, where I currently manage a client portfolio of 85 brands. My focus now is analysing client websites and identifying where their campaigns can grow next. Alongside that, I run BT Strategies, helping agencies and brands build authority through technical, on-site and off-site SEO. Search is changing fast. People are no longer just Googling, they're asking ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, and those answers are shaped by entirely different signals. I spend most of my time figuring out how businesses get found, cited and recommended in both worlds, and building the tools to do it at scale.
